The Birth of Wen-Kelli

It all started with a suitcase and a train ride along the Italian coast. In 2023, the founders went on a trip through Italy. They wandered through Positano’s narrow alleys and sipped espresso in sun-drenched piazzas, not knowing that inspiration was about to strike.

It came quietly at first. In Naples, they noticed something, women, often older, elegantly dressed in linen or silk, wore jewelry that defied the minimalist Dutch aesthetic they see back home. These were bold pieces: thick gold hoops, layered chains, dramatic brooches that glittered under the southern sun. They weren’t afraid to be seen. They told stories of youth, love, power, elegance.

Then, in Capri, the vision sharpened. It was a warm July evening at a beach club. Here, sun-kissed partygoers dressed in breezy kaftans and swimsuits wore statement jewelry that caught the last of the golden light. Shells dipped in gold, oversized bangles, colorful resin earrings the size of teacups. The jewelry was not an afterthought, it was the outfit. The confidence. The mood.

It was a world away from the small, subtle jewelry so common back home. And so started the idea and journey of Wen-Kelli.
